Leaving Cert Nears…

Posted: May 12th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

Hi, after a really long hiatus, I shall start blogging again. It will begin with at least the daily statistics of my study patterns.

The Idea of this is to keep track of how much I study through the electronic medium, and how good a predictor these results are for the leaving certificate after approximately 8 months of electronic collection. It works on the basis of S.R.S. [Spaced Repetition System], which shows me flashcards when I am most likely to forget that fact.

Today I’ll post about geography (my second worst subject after English!). [All of these stats come from Anki by the way].

Total Electronic Study Time

68.8 Hours [this is time spent looking at questions on flashcards, but not the time seeing the answers]

Card Maturity
Mature cards: 947 (73.4%) [Greater than 30 days before I see them again = I won't see most of these again before leaving cert as I should know them with a reliability of the 'mature card' statistic below]
Young cards: 319 (24.7%) [Less than 30 days  in the interval]
Unseen cards: 25 (1.9%)
Average interval: 59.8 days [This is the average time before I see a flashcard again]

Correct Answers
Mature cards: 81.5% (1091 of 1339) [>30 Days]
Young cards: 86.1% (7259 of 8428) [<30 Days - This result shows my continued effort to improve results]
First-seen cards: 47.4% (601 of 1268) [This figure is meaningless. It shows how often I get a flashcard right without ever seeing it before = No Study beforehand]

Daily Study Time over the past 3 months for Geography

That 150 minute bar is the day before my Mock exam.

Till tomorrow, where I’ll post my data for Physics.

Use this method of Study too via: http://www.gluedstudy.com [my own development]
